| ok. Maybe that's some comfort knowing that no one else has seen this as being caused by windows updates. I'll try some other tests and post if I find a solution. Thanks! |

| Interesting idea.... For the Email task, something like this is possible by using the Combine option, see the bottom of this page: http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopAutoEmail.html When you use the "Combine" option, you receive 1 email with several notifications combined. |

| About the security updates.... We have lots of customers who run Win2003 (thousands) and the Email task (together with "copy" and "run a bat file") is the most popular task of WD. Your report is the first we received. If it is caused by a MS update, we would have received a lot more complaints, I think. Dirk (German support) also runs several Win2003 installs of WD for a client he has. I am running out of ideas.... Can you try a WD install on another computer? See here how you can copy your settings: http://watchdirftp.blogspot.com/2008/08/move-your-watchdirectory-install-to.html (and maybe the "Troubleshooting" section of http://watchdirftp.blogspot.com/2008/08/move-your-task-directory.html ). |

| The MS critical updates were applied the night before watchdirectory began to fail, August 15: KB982214 KB090436 KB2160329 KB2115168 KB2229593 KB2079403 about eight more were applied to IE, Word, Excel and Outlook. I do suspect the Server 2003 security updates have something to do with this. |

| I have set email alert if new files arrive in a directory. I would like to get a mail once only, then have the task suspended for a certain amount of time, so I don't get flooded with mails of every single file. This wish is actually not restricted to the email plugin, it could be an interesting general event option. And if you tell me now, this is possible already, I could not find out how to do this, but I would not be surprised... |

| Understood. I renamed the emailsettings.ini and tested a mail without the system.mail running, but same error. | |

| Install the current download "on top" of your installed version (no need to uninstall). All settings/tasks will be kept. |

| Quote from Gert on Yesterday at 11:14am: confirmed Also, please read this blogpost (about "remember triggered files"): http://watchdirftp.blogspot.com/2009/01/file-age-monitoring-method.html Wow. Great. Perfect program. Thanks! I need to run it 24/7 on an FTP server, will keep testing it for the rest of the trial period, and then eventually kick out it's competitor, which is outdated and not only by its name behaves like an ape in the trees Cheers hp |

| oh, and to re-iterate what Dirk said somewhere: some programs just can not run in a service context. | |
