HTML in consolidated email
Apr 2nd, 2008, 9:40pm

My company uses WatchDirectory to monitor for new files in a directory and then to email a team regarding the new file.  It is useful to have a hyperlink to allow the user to click straight from the email to the file.  Unfortunately the path and file often have spaces which means that the only way to perform this is by writing the html code for the link.  This means that we cannot make use of the batch email facility as WD only looks in the single email body for <html> tags.

It would be helpful of you allowed the opening tags to be written into the opening text box of the combined email and the closing tags to be written into the closing text box.  then the actual individual email text could be the hyperlink required (which WD creates beautifully using the built in tags)  Cool

Any thoughts?

Hello Joe,

Thanks for the suggestion....
If I understand you correctly, you want WD to determine if the email is "html" based on the final email to send (after combining) - not based upon the individual email-"parts" that contribute to the combined email.

I will see if this can be implemented in a future release.

just to rephrase incase it was not clear.

when you send an email on every event, you can configure the header and body. you can put html into the body and WD automatically sends the email as html.

When you send a consolidated email you can configure the consolidated email header, an intro and an append.  when the consolidated email is compiled it includes the individual email bodies between the intro and append.

you currently cannot send a cosolidated html email as WD only recognizes the <html> tag in the individual message body.

if you could configure it to look for a <html> tag in the intro of the combined email and you put closing tags in the append then all of the individual bodies would just require format tags and you could dynamically create a html page
