WD 4.5.9 beta
Feb 28th, 2009, 11:47am

Hello all,

We have a new beta for WatchDirectory. This new beta has one bugfix and one new feature.

The plugin to "launch programs" ( http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopAutoLaunch.html ) did not set the WD_REASON variable for new folders properly (it was set to DIREW instead of DIRNEW). This has been fixed.

A new feature in the WD Control Center allows you to Find (and select) tasks. Use CTRL+F (or the View -> Find menu) to find tasks.

Install the beta "on top" of your currently installed WD version so it will keep your tasks and settings.

WD 4.5.9 beta 2

Hello,

We have a new beta available for version 4.5.9.

  • New: You can set the "color" of a task. If you have a lot of tasks, this allows you to organize them in different "groups".
Give a task one of 6 colors using the "right click" context menu.
You can sort the tasks by color by clicking the header in the WD Control Center. You can select all tasks having the same color using the new
         "Colors Toolbar".
  • New: When you let the email plugin combine emails, you can now set the separator between emails yourself.
  • Changed: The "Find" window has some minor improvements

The "Color" column and the "Colors toolbar" will not initially show. After you set the color of a task, the column and toolbar will show.

Hi,

This will probably be the last beta before release.

We have "tweaked" the performance of the WD History viewer. It should be very much faster, especially on large databases. This change requires an update to the database. This update to the database is automatically performed when you start the task.

Download the new beta here:
(replaced with another download, see last post)

Install it "on top" of your current version so it will keep your tasks & settings.

New/Changed in this beta:
The thumbnail plugin can be configured as a SubTask.
New option on the thumbnail plugin to prevent it overwriting existing thumbs (see remark below for the German version).
When a task is called for a new file, first check if the file still exists.

Install this beta "on top" of your current release so it will keep your tasks and settings.

A small note for the German language version:
The new text for the new thumbnail option is "cut off", it says
"vorhandene Dateien übersc"
the full text is
"vorhandene Dateien überschreiben"
This will be fixed in the final release.

Hi,

This new beta for WatchDirectory fixes 2 issues:
* The "Zip" task can now zip far larger files (tested with 8GiB files)
* The "Copy Files" task would, in some cases, also remove the monitored directory if you selected the option "remove directories that become empty"

I hope to have a followup beta soon that will also allow the "Unzip" task to handle larger files.

Hello,

So here is the new beta promised earlier.

* New: The "Folder Size" task can now also react when there are "LESS" files and/or "MORE" megabytes found
* Fix: The "Last Message" column in the WD Control Center didnt always update properly
* Fix: The "Automatically UNZIP" task now supports far larger ZIP files (I tested with a ZIP of 2GB containing an 8GB file). In theory the size of ZIPs is now "unlimited" (but that is hard to test Wink

Download the latest beta here:
(download removed)

Install it "on top" of your current version so it will see your tasks and settings.

A new (probably last) beta:

(download link removed - WD 4.5.9 is now released)

Install it "on top" of your current version so it will see your tasks and settings.

New in this beta:
* On some systems, the "tip of the day" window could cause the WD Control Center to crash
* The "Auto Copy" task can now MOVE files
* The "Folder Size" task will write a timestamp and the filename of files it removes to
<Task Directory>\<Task Name>\removedFiles_YYYYMMDD.csv. These csv files are automatically removed after 31 days.
