Title: Evaluation not working
Post by inter0p on Apr 25th, 2004 at 8:39am
Just am trying out the eval version. I set it up to monitor a directory that has a 100 or so subdirs in it, (selected subdirs). On any action (create, delete, add dir etc) I am having it execute the sample COPY bat file. I edited the COPY bat file to copy to a UNC path (i.e. \\server\folder)

I started it up and copied a new file in the root of the source. I started up the monitor and it reported no new files or deleted files. I also checked the log file with nothing reported there either.

Hello InterOp,

The way you describe it you first copied the file, and then started watchDirectory. That won't work as WD needs to be running while the file is created.
However, you probably did it in the correct order...

Another possibility: are you running watchDirectoryFree? WDF won't work all the time (see

Something else to try:
In the directory 'above' the samples (normaly c:\program files\gdp software\watchDirectory) is another .bat file called displayEvents.bat. This .bat file will just echo all information to the screen.
Make sure you don't select any of the "Hide..." options as the displayEvents.bat will wait for you to press a key.

What happens if you run WD with that .bat file?

If the above does not help, could you ZIP your .bat file and send it with the WD commandline you use to support (at), please?

To get the WD command line on the windows clipboard, press CTRL+F5 on the startup screen (after you set all parameters). Then paste it into your email.
