Title: How to monitor folder+subs -specific sub folder
Post by Bullweed on Aug 26th, 2004 at 3:17am
Hi I would like to know if it is possible to monitor a directory and all sub folders but someway exclude a specific subfolder (such as a log folder), for which you know that there would be constant changing of files and so forth.

This would be awesome information if it is possible.

Thanks,

The current (and next 8) ) version of watchDirectory won't allow you to do so directly, but you can ignore those events inside your .bat files...

If You are monitoring C:\Monitor, and want to ignore every event inside C:\Monitor\Ignore, just add the following to your .bat file:

Quote:
IF /I "%WD_RELDIR%" == "Ignore" GOTO :EOF

The above line can be placed at the very beginning of your .bat file.
WD_RELDIR always contains the directory name relative to the monitored directory.
Good idea for a future version of WD, thanks.

There will be a provision for this in the next release (to be released in the next few days - free upgrade for existing customers).
