Title: Events for harddrive status
Post by jesper on Oct 17th, 2004 at 4:08pm
Hi

I am looking for "call command events" that responds to
the status of the harddrive.

I dont know anything about ways to get that status,
perhaps there is a generic ways to get a hold of "drive
status" or "Raid status" in Windows.

In case of a RAID running in degraded mode, this would be handy for starting WDAutoWinZip.bat, taking a backup of a particular directory structure, and of course sending an e-mail.

Is it possible to add this to WatchDirectory or is it outside the scope and goals of WatchDirectory? If so i would appreciate any pointers to other solutions and ideas :-)

Jesper,

I have absolutely no experience with raid, so don't hold your breath for this functionality. (What is "raid degraded mode").

Running in degraded mode, i ment running with one failed drive in a RAID5 setup. The system will run, reboot etc, but it will not be fault tolerant, ie. another drive failure will result in loss of data.

There are many applications that might do the job, i will check it out:

Much is based on S.M.A.R.T.:

.. holding my breath for a response here is good practice, thanks so far :-)
