Title: seeing a path in dos
Post by kenwshmt on Aug 18th, 2005 at 9:41pm
I got a net drive this last week, which is a hard drive that is mapped as a network drive, but has no usable computer.

I am using this as a destination for all my processing.

This morning, after resetting the watch directory system, I didn't do anything to access the path in the GUI windows before watch directory's batch processing attempted to use it as a destination for move, copies and if exists.

it failed.

I know how to fix it in windows, just exploring to the path once establishes it with the OS, and DOS can use it from that point.

Can anyone think of a run once ap I can put into the startup that will do this and save me the trouble?

I got one of those too a few weeks ago (http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Maxtor/menuitem.6adb6b8313633595062e6be791346068/?channelpath=/en_us/Products/Network%20Storage). I like the idea of their "drag 'n' sort software that comes with it, and am thinking about a plugin for watchDirectory to do something similar.

Anyways, can't you put something like
start \\server\share\dir
inside your startup group?

I got it. i made shortcuts to the mapped path assigns, and are in the startup group.

I get 3 annoying explorer windows on every reset, but the paths are working.

Perhaps try this, I think it will not open explorer (it doesn't for my NAS):

net use Q: \\MaxtorNas\UserId secret /user:UserId

secret=password to use
