Title: Zero Length Files
Post by jimaus on Nov 6th, 2005 at 11:00pm
Hi,
I have noticed that WD will copy/move/ftp files of zero k .
Would it be possible to have WD check that the file has some content prior to executing the particular process.

Cheers

Jim

Normally you would use wait for files to be available for that. However, I am aware that some programs have a strange way of creating files:
create
close
open
write
close
open
write
close
And "wait for files" will think the file is ready after the first close. If you combine it with the option to "delay starting the task", it will work most of the time (assuming there will be at least 1 write to the file during the delay).

Anyway, I like the idea of adding a "minimum size" threshold to WD in the next release.

Gert,

We do have "Wait for Files to be available" checked for the process in question.

I will look forward to the minimum threshold option in the next release.

Yes, but did you also select the "delay starting..." option?
Did you receive my email about the "minimum filesize" prerelease?

Gert,

I have the "delay starting the task" set to 2 seconds on all processes.

Did not receive your email on the pre release.

Cheers

Jim

I also sent it as a PM. At the very top, when you are logged into this forum, it should say "Hey, Jim, you have 1 message". Click "1 message".
