Title: Unzip/zip with password protection

Is there any way to zip/unzip with watchDirectory and supply a password for the zipped files?

Hi,

At the moment, the "auto zip" plugin doesn't support encryption, this is planned for the 4.5 release. What you can do is use the "automatically run a batch file" plugin, and start a commandline ZIP program. E-Mail to upport if you need an example.

Hi Gert

Please can you let me (and I guess the other WD users who read this post) when the program will support the ability to unzip password-protected zip files.

I read somewhere that the zip plugin may support password protection, but I can't find a way to specify a password that the unzip plugin should use when unzipping a zip archive.

Thanks

Wes

Hello Wes,

For Zipping - passwords are already supported, you can chose a fixed password or let WD generate random passwords - see http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/AutoZip_password_protect.html

For UNzipping I am not sure how I can implement this in a way useful to (most) people. Should it try using a fixed password (always try with "secretpwd") or try all passwords in a file, or ......

Before you suggest: no, the unzip plugin can not prompt the user for a password.
