Title: Disk "Mirroring"
Post by perfpix on Apr 4th, 2008 at 2:38pm

I want to have a disk on one system to "mirror" a disk on another.  Watch directory works great for copying files to the remote system, however, I can't seem to figure out how to configure watch directory to get the remote system to mirror deleted and renamed files on the first system.  I can set up the monitor in "Faster" monitoring mode.  Is there a magic setup to do this?

Hello John,

A "real" mirroring - or "sync" - plugin/task is planned for the next major (5.0) release. At this moment, your best bet is to use the "copy files" plugin with an undocumented trick...

Create the new task (lets assume you call it "AutoCopy")
Stop the task
In the WD Control Center, select the menu "Tools -> Explore Task Directory" (this opens explorer in the directory that has your task settings)
Open the file AutoCopy.config using notepad
Find the line that says "evtFileDel=-1" and changfe it to "evtFileDel=1" (remove the minus)
Save the file

Now, the task will also act on deletes in the monitored directory: it will delete the same file in the target directory.
