Title: New sub-tasks plugin
Post by Matt on Dec 19th, 2008 at 11:35am
Am I right in thinking that with the new v4.5.6 sub-task plugin - according to point 3 on how to run:

Quote:
Run All SubTasks - Continue on Failure
All SubTasks having a matching file-mask will run for the detected file. When a SubTask fails, other SubTasks will run.

...that subsequent tasks will only run if a previous one fails?  Looking at the ftp example image - that's exactly what I need it for - if an upload to one server fails, upload the file to a backup server.

Could be a life-saver is that's true!   8-)

Sorry, you misunderstand.

This option will just ignore the error-condition of a sub-task and continue with the other sub-tasks (which would *also* be started if the original sub-task had no problem).

For a future release of this multi-task plugin, we will implement dependencies like you describe (only run this sub-task if that sub-task fails).

OK, thanks.  It's still a great plugin, though.

Hi Gert

Any news on this?  Been thinking about it - maybe some sort of logic operators - eg.

  • Run task A AND task B
Run task A OR task B (ie. on failure of task A or maybe other events?)

or even something like:

IF XYZ THEN
    Task A
ELSE IF ABC THEN
    TASK B
ELSE
    TASK C

Just a thought.   ;)

Hello Matt,

Great ideas (again). Sorry, we did not start to implement this yet - it may take a while because we currently have some other priorities.

Gert
