Title: Run Multiple Sub Tasks not acting on dir changes
Post by vcaponi on Jan 11th, 2010 at 6:59pm
Hello,

I am trying to rewrite a series of individual FTP jobs as subtasks within the run multiple sub tasks plugin.  I am looking for both new and changed files in the watch directory.  There are no filters set in the run multiple plugin config, and each FTP subtask (upload pluggin) is configured to operate on filename mask in order to upload each file to it's respective directory on the FTP server.  I am unsure as to what I may be doing wrong, as I've tried copying a new fileset to the watched folder but it does not seem to run the subtasks when the new files arrive.  I turned debug on and saw that the job recognized that the directory changed, yet the subtasks do not seem to run.  Could I be missing something simple?  Any suggestions for troubleshooting this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vincent

Hello Vincent,

Can you post the filename masks you use?

and also the names of the dropped files (full paths please) and the name of the monitored directory?

Hello Gert,

The 13 subtasks will send a single file to it's respective folder on the FTP server.  The file names which are dropped are:

C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTWILREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTTUSREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTSROREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTSPAREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTSARREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTPETREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTOCLREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTNCFREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTLAKREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTHENREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTGANREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTGADREDDOT.txt
C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT\NYTFLOREDDOT.txt

In the SubTask Settings for each I have FILENEW and FILECHNG checked.  Currently I am using the single explicit file names above in the "Only run this SubTask for files matching" field, for each of the 13 subtasks.  I also tried wildcarding as NYTWIL*.txt, NYTTUS*.txt, etc.

The directory to watch in the main task is C:\Temp\FTP\REDDOT.  In the Events tab I also have FILENEW and FILECNHG checked. No filter events are defined.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,
Vincent

Hello Gert,

Your request for me to include the file and path of those that I'm dropping gave me the hunch to fully qualify the masks in the individual subtasks.  That did the trick.  I was thinking that the watch directory name would be passed to the subtasks and therefore I neglected to fully qualify the masks.  Thanks for your help, I think I'm all set now.

Kind regards,

Vincent

Ah, great. Maybe we should make this more obvious in a future release. Or perhaps automagically add *\ in front of those paths.

Hi Gert,

Oh, so I could wild card the path in the subtasks like that?  Rather than specifying the full path?

Correct, see the bottom of this page for some examples:
