Title: Does a HTTP Post Plugin exist?
Post by vballpjp on Jan 12th, 2010 at 10:43pm
Good afternoon,

We have been loyal WatchDirectory customers for over 4 years, and love its capabilities.  I am inquiring if there is any (alpha or beta) HTTP Post plugin available?

Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul,

We received one or two inquiries over the years about such a plugin, but never enough details to really implement something.
Are you looking for something to automatically post a <form> on the web, or perhaps some kind of SOAP thingy?

However, you can already POST using a batch script and curl, see this page for some examples:

Here is another curl example on our blog:

Thx for the info.  Basically we are looking to react to a file update locally then HTTP Post the data in the file to an external client.  We typically deal with a high volume of updates, and since the WatchDirectory FTP plugin has been so reliable, I was curious if a HTTP Post plugin existed.  Not sure if calling a curl BAT would hold up under the high volume of updates that occurs... would it?

Depending on what you call high volume and the size of files, I think using curl should work fine.
