Title: File length = 32 characters not processing
Post by gwhite@boxley.com on Mar 29th, 2010 at 4:08pm
If I create a new file in our monitored directory, it is not processed.  If I copy a file to the directory, it is processed.  Not sure what's going on.  This is a directory monitor for our Help Desk system which sends messages to our phones.  We recently installed an upgrade which took the file names from 6 characters to 32.  Since then the monitoring has been flaky.  Any help would be appreciated.  Currently on v.4.6.2.

Hello Greg,

Unless the complete file name (including path and drive letter) is ridiculously long, I don't see why this should be an issue.

Can you send me (by email) the settings of this task?
* stop the task
* right click it (a popup menu shows)
* select "Backup selected task"

Please send me the zip this creates. Please also include a few filenames (not the files, but their names) that were not detected.

Thanks,
Gert

Here is a copy of the file directory/name....unfortunately the location of the files must be in this directory.

c$\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts\Help Desk\6e9acf1ff6fc4645bfd65d6d0ca6f626.WAV

Just an added note...I can create a file via our voicemail system (.wav) in the monitored directory and no notification is sent out.  If I move that .wav file to another location and then move it back into the monitored directory, the notification will be sent out.  ????

mmm, this sounds as an issue with the monitoring method you use (currently set to "Fast").

Can you try the "Polling" method? If that works, try the "Default" method, which is a little bit more efficient than the polling method.

I have to go now (6pm here in Holland), I hope the above will fix it.

Looks like the polling option worked.  I'll try the default a little later...thanks for the quick replies on this!
