Title: Cannot re-copy file to target after deletion
Post by derek_badger on Aug 27th, 2010 at 2:11pm
hi,

we're currently evaluting your product as it's almost perfect for our needs. however i need some assistance with one scenario:

we have to folders;  folder (a): data comes from an xml feed and these files are update many times a day. this file structure is copied to folder (b) as and when these changes take place.

our application reads the xml files in folder (b), processes them and then deletes them. when folder (a) receives and updated file it replicates to folder (b), it is again read, processed and deleted. this process continues ad infinitum.

with watchDirectory 4.6.2 the initial replication process of folder (a) to folder (b) is fine, and any subsequent changes to the files in folder (a) are replicated in folder (b)...however when a file in folder (b) is deleted by our application it is not replaced when the corresponding file in folder (a) is updated by the data feed.

a back up of task we are trying to set up is attached.

many thanks in advance,
andy

Hello Andy,

Can you try with "do not set any permissions" on the "File Permissions" window?

You may also need to change the Service settings so this task runs as another user (see http://watchdirftp.blogspot.com/2010/04/watchdirectory-tasks-as-windows-service.html ).

Gert
