Title: FTP error
Post by digitlman on Oct 19th, 2010 at 2:34pm
Just installed program, set up new task to monitor a directory and FTP upload files.   Did the test for advanced polling and it worked fine.

Run the task, I get:

Event Type:      Warning
Event Source:      watchDirectory:TEST
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      1
Description:
Could not upload file, will reconnect and retry

Event Type:      Warning
Event Source:      watchDirectory:TEST
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      1
Description:
40550: Requested action not taken. File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

I checked and set the permissions on the watched directory so that "everyone" has full access.  As I said, the fast polling test was fine, so I am at a loss.

Actually, this error message is returned from your FTP server. Do you have a correct directory entered on the FTP settings (try the browse / ... button)? Does the user/pwd have proper privileges on the FTP server?

When I click on the "browse" button, I don't get any of the sub folders on the FTP.   The username and password are correct, and I've tried both active and passive.

It sounds to me like the initial directory (often called "home directory") is not showing the same as you would expect. What I mean is: when WD connects, you are at another location than you think you are.

If you connect with an FTP client like FileZilla, does it work? In that case copy the ftp "home" directory from FileZilla and paste it into WD's settings. By the way, there is no use actually running the task before you get this "browse/..." working.

That did the trick.  Thanks!
