Hello

I would like watchdirectory to send me an email whenever a file with a specific extension is created in a directory.  Everything seems to be working exception the smtp server connection.  The message keeps going into the System.Mail.Fail directory.

When I set up the Email Options, I tested the set up and a message was successfully sent to my email account.  But when the task is triggered the message cannot get through.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi,

The most likely problem is a virus-scanner or firewall blocking access to your SMTP.

When you do the "test email", it is the program wdcc.exe (watchdirectory control center) that sends the email. When your task sends the email, it is the program wdPostman.exe that sends the email. I guess, when you did the test email, your virus-scanner asked you if you want to allow "this program to send email", so wdcc.exe can send email.

You need to look into the settings of your virus-scanner to see if you can add wdPostman.exe somewhere in an "allowed" list.
