Title: Missing events if wD is stopped during delay
Post by niall.briggs on Feb 10th, 2011 at 6:39pm
Hi,

Using wD v4.5.5 I have a task which runs a program. There is a small delay after starting the program (first page), but the scheduler is set to start immediately. On the Other... page, it is set to check for missed events when starting up and then delay starting the task for a few seconds.
The monitoring method is set to poll every 10 seconds.

If you place a file in the monitored directory, wait for enough time to ensure it has polled and not yet processed and stop the task, the task doesn't process. When you re-start the task it doesn't process either, nor is there any record in the history of the file event.

This is monitoring a folder where a 3rd party is placing files, so it difficult to ensure that this won't happen.

Is this a bug? Is there a better way?

Thanks

Niall

Hello Niall,

It is hard to tell what is happening. The only thing that comes to mind is that you have a filter ( http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/filter_events.html ) that prevents some events.

Can you enable debug, wait for one file that isn't processed and email me (see my signature) a backup of this task? See this blog: http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html

When you email me, please also tell me the full name of the file you expected to be processed.

Gert

One other cause....

Perhaps there is a bug in this 3rd party process and it keeps the last file it writes open (or locked or ....).
On the "other" settings page, WD has the option "wait for files...." and WD can be waiting a long time if the 3rd party program has the file locked.
