Title: Migrate to new server
Post by digitlman on Jun 25th, 2012 at 8:20pm
Hello,

I have WatchDir installed on a 2003 vm.  We need to move the program to a new Windows 7 x86 vm.

Is there any easy way to move the jobs over?

Hi,

Please see this blogpost:
http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2008/08/move-your-watchdirectory-install-to.html

If you need to (temporarily) run WD on both computers, contact me for a temporary license key (do NOT enter your current key on both computers).

OK, so what would you advise for someone that didn't read his instructions very well  :-/ and DID enter the same license key on the new server while the old server was still up... and is now getting the alert emails each time the tasks start up?  New server is up and running great and WD is uninstalled from old server.

You say WD is uninstalled on the old server, in that case you should not be receiving those warnings anymore. The new server *is* seeing other computers where tasks with the same license key are running.

Please try this (on the new server):
Open a command prompt (cmd.exe)
Enter the following command:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\WatchDirectory\wdrun.exe" SHOWNETUSERS
(depending on where WD is installed)

After a few seconds it will popup a window showing you where it sees the same license key used.
