Title: UNC root as copy target
Post by chrisjrutter on Apr 26th, 2013 at 8:56pm
::)
I have been using WD for years now and it is an intergral part of my backup strategy.  :)
But do you think I can figure out this simple new task?  :-/
I have an external NAS which is the primary target for various WD folder copy tasks.
I have now added a second NAS on which I want to mirror the first NAS, as a backup to the backup. (I am not worried about syncing deletes from one to the other).
I want to create one new WD task to monitor and copy all file changes on NAS1 to NAS2 at a root level but.... entering the UNC of NAS1 root in the Target Directory of the Copy dialog is invalid.
e.g. the IP is 10.94.10.27 so \\10.94.10.27\ is rejected by WD "The file name, directory name or volume label syntax is invalid".
I have also played around with using dynamic naming e.g. \\10.94.10.27\{dir} but I can't seem to get this to work either.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
With thanks.
Chris

Can you browse to this UNC using the Browse button (you probably need to disable dynamic naming for that)?

Yes I can Gert but the OK button is greyed out until I select on of the folders below the UNC.
