Title: Folder Size Task not deleting files
Post by cvandenbout on May 6th, 2013 at 2:41pm
I have a Folder Size task setup to delete old files if the total size of all files is more than 20000 megabytes (20 GB). The monitor seems to be working correctly as the Task History is saying "Should Free xxx megabytes storage" every hour. However, the files are never deleted. I'm not getting any errors that I can find and I've tried to give full access to the user running the task on the folder. Is there a checkbox somewhere that tells the task to ACTUALLY delete files instead of just tell me that is "should" delete them?

The only thing I can think of is that you have the "test mode" option set, one of the last options for the Folder Size settings: http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopFolderSize.html

If that is not the case, please enable "debug", run the task for a while (so it should have deleted files), stop the task and create a backup. Please email me the backup. More detailed info is here: http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html

Hello Cory,

I have looked at your settings. You used a comma (,) to separate file-patterns but should have used a semicolon (;) instead.
As it is now, the task is looking for files matching "*.7z,*.7Z,*.bak,*.BAK" and can not find any. If you change it to "*.7z;*.bak" it should work fine.

Great! I thought it might be something simple like that.

Thank you very much!!!
