Title: FTP to AS/400 stopped working
Post by bgeoghan on May 7th, 2014 at 9:40pm
Hello,

We have been using the FTP Upload plugin for years with no issue.

We recently upgraded to the latest version of WatchDirectory (4.8.7) and the FTP upload to our IBM iSeries (V5R4) is no longer pushing the files in the correct EBCDIC format.  It appears to be pushing the file in binary no matter how the job is configured (Auto, Always Text).

We rolled back to a previous version (4.6.6) and everything is working again.

I have attached a backup from one of our many FTP Upload jobs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Hello Bill,

You forgot to include the backup.
Strange it is ignoring text-mode, I will have a look.

As this backup didn't contain "debug" info (see http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html ) there was not much to see for me.

I wonder if your AS/400 FTP is switching back to binary mode if there is some other FTP command between "mode text" and "put file". Are you willing to try a test build that has the "mode" command directly before "put"?

You could always use Watch Directory to run a batch file to upload the file.  That is what we do here because Watch Directory does not have a QUOTE option for the FTP upload which we need for uploading most of our files to our mainframe.
