Title: wdrun.exe infected with Win32/Battdil.A
Post by allan on Sep 7th, 2016 at 1:53pm
Hello,

Not sure how this happened, but wanted to let you know.  This morning my system detected (ESET) wdrun.exe was infected with Win32/Battdil.A.

WD 4.9.0

Regards,
allan

Hello Allan,

I just checked wdrun.exe with www.virustotal.com, see
https://virustotal.com/en/file/8bb58b1b74b907f3b25db26bd091481ad1df06d0670878254f6e197e7429a5ad/analysis/1473250120/

This is the current 4.9.4 release and it shows no infection (also for ESET). It could be the current ESET is giving a false positive for the (older) 4.9.0 release or your system got infected somehow (then you probably get alerts for other programs as well).

You can just install the latest evaluation of WD "on top" of your release so it will keep your settings tasks and license.

Gert,

I do need to install 4.9.4, especially now that it supports TLS FTP better :)

I'm going to go with it was a false positive because nothing else was infected nor did I find any other triggers or copies of the virus.

Thanks,
allan
