connect to remote computer

Hi all:

Fist let me offer my condolences for the despicable acts  of a few cowardly asses, may they burn in hell for what they did.   Angry

What I am trying to do is connect to a computer outside my firewall.  Our FTP server lives in the danger zone.  I need to monitor a specific subfolder on that machine.  If I can do this without installing the program on that machine it makes a lot more sense.  Otherwise I am going to need to buy additional copies and my boss doesn’t understand the need for utils.

He says that is why he pays me the big bucks, that’s another story  Cry

I am not from the UK, but feel the same. The moslims I know are all confident that those terrorist idiots will indeed burn in hell for what they did.

No way to map a drive to it, or access it by using an UNC name (\\server\share)?

Actually, you didn't tell what you want to do (I guess you want to copy files from the FTP server to a local machine). I don't see why you would need to purchase additional copies if you install on your FTP server.

As an alternative, you may be interested in WebDrive: http://www.southrivertech.com/index.php?pg=./products/webdrive/index
It can map an FTP site to a drive (X:). Several customers use watchDirectory to monitor such WebDrives. However, by the way WebDrive works, you can only monitor using the "polling method", and it seems to be difficult to map those drives when watchDirctory is running as a Windows Service app.
