Moving files using FTP
Aug 2nd, 2005 at 8:10am

I would like to see an FTP plugin that copies and deletes on successful copy.

There already is an "upload" plugin. Are you talking about a "download" variant?
That won't be easy to implement for the current version - we allow plugins to respond to events. To be able to download, I guess it would mean you set an "ftp site to monitor", instead of a directory....

Interesting idea, and only suggested a few hundred times before  8), it will be implemented in the next major release (5.0) - don't hold your breath.

Just in case you mean you want the file that was just uploaded to be deleted.....

To be a little more specific, work on version 5, will start at the end of 2006 - earliest. I should also remember to not make these kind of promises...

Gert,
Yes I did mean the file just uploaded to be deleted from the source.
Downloaded 400281, works a treat.

Thanks

I'd like to see a "Copy to" option instead of or along with the delete option...

Most files I upload, I need to archive.
Currently, I'm using a seperate batch file to move the FTP'd file to an Archive directory. This would be a nice feature indeed!

One of the main reasons for the new "plugin" architecture, is to create "simple" software. The more functionality you put inside one single plugin, the more complex it gets (and a lot harder to make sure it is bug-free).

I am thinking about the best solution for these kind of things, something like a plugin that can run multiple other plugins (with simple "if/then/else" functionality).

Yep, that would be best.
The way I do my batch files uses the "Call XXX.bat" function to do the same kind of thing.
