Email notification to "external" recipient...
Jan 9th, 2006 at 5:04pm

I have set up tasks to send email notifications to both internal and external recipients. Internal-only events work perfectly, but any task that includes an external recipient fails and returns this...

An error occurred in the "see" library. Error Code=-49 - SMTP returned error. 550 Relaying is prohibited
. Location=sendMail (2nd attempt)

Is there anything I or my mail server admin can do to make this work? Any iformation would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am not an SMTP expert, but this message comes from the SMTP server you are using. Relaying is a term used by SMTP that basically tells you "sorry, you are not allowed to use this SMTP server to send your spam".
Normally, when you have correctly configured WD (View -> Email options) to use the correct userid and password, the SMTP server will allow you to connect and send messages.
Note that some SMTP servers ignore the login when you have recently fetched your POP mail. If you have a server like that, you can enter garbage as userid/password and the email will send fine. After an hour or so (when the SMTP server 'forgot' your POP login), it will refuse you due to an invalid login.
