Copy Task
May 9th, 2006 at 5:26pm

I have setup a number of tasks and typically create and test each task locally.  When the task is configured properly I then need to create it on the server.  Is ther a quick way to transfer the task to the server?  I copied the config file and subdir, but that did not work.

Thanks,

Phil

That *should* work if you do it correctly.

On the "source computer", create (and test) the task. The following assumes the task is called "NEWTASK".
Press CTRL+9 in the WD Control Center to explore your task directory (*).
Copy (or zip) NEWTASK.config and the sub-directory NEWTASK with all its contents.

On the "target computer", press CTRL+9 inside the WD Control Center
paste NEWTASK.config inside the task directory, paste the NEWTASK sub-directory there too.

Stop the WD Control Center, start it again (the available tasks are then refreshed)

Gert

(*) on most computers, the task directory will be
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\watchDirectory
however, when you install WD, you can choose the location. Pressing CTRL+9 will always open the task-directory in explorer

I will try again, but htat is exactly what I did.  I got the message that the required plugin was not installed.  However I was able to create a new task using the same plugin.

weird....

mmm, perhaps.... I am not sure what would happen if on one computer you installed WD to C:\Program Files\wd, and the other computer on D:\Progs\wd...
also, make sure you copy the entire NEWTASK subdirectory. And if this is the "run an existing .bat file" plugin, make sure to also copy that .bat file.

Can you send me the NEWTASK.config file (see my signature for the email address), I would like to look inside it.

Gert
