A way to kill a dead process - vbs plugin
Aug 23rd, 2006 at 11:16am

Hi Gert.

I'm using the vbs plugin heavily and it works like a charm.

Randomly I experience that the vbs "hangs" but with no apparent reason, I can't find any errors in the script. When it does, WD uses 50% (precisely 50%, not 48% or 53%) of the cpu and just sits there.

Is it possible to have a timeout of nn seconds/minutes, and if the vbs didn't return it should kill it.

The problem is that WD then stops responding to new files events, and propably any other events I don't know.

Thanks for any help, I love WD... every day!

Best regards,
Mark

Can you send me a screenshot of your settings for the vbs plugin?

If your vbs hangs, with the default settings, WD will wait for it to complete (and if your vbs hangs, that is a long time).

50% CPU..... It looks like WD is spinning on one CPU (or one core) waiting for the VBS to complete....

Hi Gert

Not sure which settings you need, so I made caps of most of them.

Thanks,
Mark

It looks like you are running an older version of WD. Can you upgrade to the latest version and try that?

Also, can you disable the option "capture output"? Then WD will probably behave better when your VBS hangs.
