Print word to file
Apr 14th, 2008 at 11:32am

Hi,
I just installed the program and it works fine. But now I am at a point, where I cannot find a solution...I hope there is one:

I would like to print word files to postscript files. This requires a windows printer (linotronic 330 - yes I need this one!). But I need to print to file. When I setup this, I always gert a popup in word, while he prints "enter filename") - of cause, this is not, what one can need for an automatic printing solution.  Undecided

I would like to add the original name of the word document and print it to one fixed directory.

HAs someone a solution for that problem?

Thnaky you

Hi,

The destination of the print can be chosen as follows:

* open your "settings -> printers and faxes" window
* select "Add Printer"
* Local printer (do not select "automatically detect")
* choose "create a new port" (type local port)
then you will get a prompt for a port-name. enter a filename instead, for example
C:\Prints\MyPrint.ps
* select the proper printer

The above will cause the print to always go to the same file. You probably need another WD task to monitor C:\Prints to move the file away as soon as possible.

ps. I answered your email, but I received an error that the Yahoo account didn't exist.

Thank you Gert...perhaps I misspelled my address..But I got the notice from this website.

This works fine...but I have a problem with popups from Word. Eg if I have a merged (Serienbrief) document, word asks "do you want to open the database" or something like that in the beginnig...so everything stops here...and waits until I press "escape"...

Has anybody an idea how I can work with that?
