Monitoring directory - sending email
Jun 23rd, 2008 at 3:38am

Hi,

I have configured the email plugin to send notification on changes in a directory structure.

The problem I have at the moment is that if 15 files are replaced, then the recipients receive 30 e-mails.

Is there a way that I can configure WD to say perform check every 5 minutes and then send a single e-mail with all the changes in the past 5 minutes.

Thanks

VW

Hello VW,

If you change the Monitoring Method (see http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/wdnewconfigpage3.html ) to "Polling", you can set how often WD will check the monitored directory for changes, this will help to prevent multiple emails for 1 file. Alternatively, you can leave the monitoring method as it is now, but change the value of "Delay Starting the task" to 300 seconds. This will "combine" events for the same file that happen during the delay-period.
The "delay" is set on the "other settings" window: http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/wdnewconfigpage6.html

The above only helps for emails that are sent for the same file.

If you want only 1 email, for all files that have changed, press the "Combine Emails" button (see bottom of http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopAutoEmail.html ).
