Hi there
I'm testing this software before I purchase and am having troubles (for past 3 hours) of trying to setup an email account using gmail as smtp server.  I have followed directions precisiely (or maybe not) but keep coming up with a connection error with the following log:
Reading configuration from file gmailsmtp.txt
gmailsmtp.txt: No such file or directory (2)
Cannot read configuration

Syntax:
stunnel [ [-install | -uninstall] [-quiet] [<filename>] ] | -help | -version | -sockets
   <filename>  - use specified config file
   -install    - install NT service
   -uninstall  - uninstall NT service
   -quiet      - don't display a message box on success
   -help       - get config file help
   -version    - display version and defaults
   -sockets    - display default socket options

Server is down

Can someone please identify what I am doing wrong?

This error occurs when I run the first line:

stunnel -install gmailsmtp.txt

I am sure all the files are in their correct and respective directories.

Are you running that command from the C:\Stunnel directory?

Or, perhaps this works:

stunnel -install c:\stunnel\gmailsmtp.txt

EXACT same problem here. I have used the command as stated in the post and also "stunnel -install c:\stunnel\gmailsmtp.txt " and it says server is down.

I am running the commands from C:\Stunnel

Please help.

A few things....

You only have to run the command "stunnel -install c:\stunnel\gmailsmtp.txt" once. It creates a new Windows Service.
To start the Service, you enter "net start stunnel".

Make sure you enter your IP address correctly in the gmailsmtp.txt (the example 10.0.0.1:8025 will likely be wrong). Enter ipconfig on a command prompt to see what your ip address is.

oh, you need administrator privs to create and start services, did you start the command prompt as admin?

What is the EXACT message you get and on what command (is it on "stunnel -install" or "net start")?

Yes I have done all you have mentioned, and correctly as far as I know.
My IP is 172.16.100.250 and I have put that in the gmailsmtp.txt file as well.

I never even get to the "net start" command, as the first command, stunnel -install, gives me an error and never works. I even went to WD and tried to send a test, and it failed. I'll include some screenshots for you.

Other than this, my and the company I work for have loved this program!

That's strange, first it says "reading configuration", it says "configuration ok" followed by "cannot read configuration".....

Perhaps it is an issue with the security privileges on gmailsmtp.txt?
Can you right-click the file, properties, security and make sure "Everyone" has all privileges on the file?

Did that, still the same error. This computer is on a domain, if that matters...

Looking around on Stunnel's website, there seems to be some configuration within "stunnel.conf", did you have to make any changes to that file, or does this "gmailsmtp.txt" file act as a replacement configuration?

It seems so simple, yet it just won't work... are you guys planning on adding gmail integration in a future build anytime soon?

I'VE GOT IT!

So, I did a little research on stunnel and gmail... and decided to try a few things.
I could not get the created .txt file (gmailsmtp.txt) to work, so I edited the "stunnel.conf" file.

Opened up "stunnel.conf" with notepad, deleted everything out of there, and added this:
# GMail
client=yes

# POP3 service, listens on localhost:11110
[gmail-pop3s]
accept=127.0.0.1:11110
connect=pop.gmail.com:995

# SMTP service, listens on localhost:11025
[gmail-smtps]
protocol=smtp
accept=127.0.0.1:11025
connect=smtp.gmail.com:587

Then I went to cmd prompt:
C:\Stunnel> stunnel -install stunnel.conf
(it waited a few seconds and gave me a prompt saying it was completed successfully)
then:
C:\Stunnel> net start stunnel
(got the service running)

Went to WD email settings, put in 127.0.0.1 as my SMTP server, put in port 11025 and the login details...

and BAM! Successfully sent a test message! (sorry, I am excited to finally get this working)

I included a screenshot to show you...
This definitely worked for me, and maybe some others can benefit off this as well?

Thanks for the info.

It looks like the big difference in your settings file is
Code:
protocol=smtp

I will have a look later if I can reproduce.

Thanks again.
