Need help sending to SMTP server using STunnel
May 13th, 2010 at 5:35pm

Based on the article found here: http://watchdirftp.blogspot.com/2009/02/gmail-as-your-smtp-server.html

I have setup my server to do exactly the same thing as based in the article.  However, it's not working as expected.  Using a port monitoring tool I see port 8025 open and the "state" says sending.  But it errors out and I get this error back:
*** seeIntegerParam(0,15,8025)
*** seeIntegerParam(0,29,1)
*** seeIntegerParam(0,62,2)
*** seeStringParam(0,58,gmailaccount@gmail.com)

Here is the STunnel configuration file:
; SMTP configuration for Gmail
output = SMTPgmail.log
taskbar = no
cert = stunnel.pem
client = yes
[ssmtp]
accept = 208.72.36.222:8025
connect = smtp.gmail.com:465

On the firewall I have allowed 8025 out.  Do I need something more?  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Pat,

It does seem your firewall (or antivirus) is blocking the connection somewhere. Can you see anything in the SMTPgmail.log file?

While the explanation is for FTP (not SMTP) the same applies. See this page for more info on socket error -10060:
