Retrieve xml file from web server & print content
Apr 7th, 2011 at 5:00pm

Hi Gert,

We are very happy with Watchdirectory Professional 4.6.2. Works really great and reliably and was worth the money. As I understand from another thread it is possible to send the content of an xml file as an e-mail. My process should work like this:

1. Monitor directory on webserver where xml files are created
2. Retrieve xml file from webserver directory when created and store locally in specified directory, leave original xml file on webserver directory
3. Send xml file per E-Mail to specified E-Mail-address with e-mail address specified in the content as senders e-mail
4. Print content of xml file
Done! Everything should of course be done automatically and should not need to be triggered manually.

Would this be possible and do I need another plugin or upgrade?

Thanks in advance!

Michael

Hello Michael,

This post should get you started on the XML/Email part:
http://www.watchdirectory.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1301381976/15#15

Printing the XML may be harder to do, but using notepad and printing to the default printer, you could add this to the batch file

notepad /p "%WD_FILE%"

Alternatively, using wordpad.exe to print

wordpad /p "%WD_FILE%"

or

wordpad /pt "%WD_FILE%" MyPrinterName
