"run as win svc" vs. "keep running when log off"
May 14th, 2011 at 7:43pm

I have the Pro version of WD.  If I enable "Run as a Windows Service (Pro)", does that make the checkbox for "Keep running when user is logging off (pro)" superfluous?  Or am I not understanding what the keep running checkbox feature is?

Thanks,

jcy

Hi,

when you run a task as service it will be automatically started at system startup ( if you do not uncheck "start with system startup"). The checkbox "keep running when user is logging of" is only working when you start a task using one of the autostart folder option (task keeps running when user is logged of, but does not automatically start on system bootup. A user needs to log in to start the task automatically)
Some people are not allowed to create a service on a server but need to have the task running when they log off.
