Multiple threads - parallel batch file processing
Apr 15th, 2012 at 6:34pm

I have set Watch Directory up to look for PDF files being added and then run a bat file to convert each PDF file to a JPEG. It's working great. My only issue is that when I add multiple files it processes the files in sequence. This is pretty slow. It would be great if I could make each batch file run independently and in parallel.

Hi,

I guess this is a task based upon the "run batch file" plugin ( http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopAutoRunBat.html ).

You can check the option "don't wait for bat files to complete" to allow multiple files be processed at the same time. To be allowed to check that option you first must uncheck "capture output..." as those 2 options are not compatible.

However, I think converting PDF to JPG is mostly a disk intensive process (reading/writing) so you may not win so much time.
