History Database - Error messages
Jan 29th, 2016 at 4:05pm

I have a task that monitors a folder on a network drive. I left the task running over the weekend with no activity in the monitored folder. On the Monday, I noticed that the C: drive on the server (running WatchDirectory) was completely full. Upon investigation, I noticed that the history file for the task had grown to 5 GB over a couple of days. This was a result of the monitored folder having been accidentally deleted. As the task monitored the folder every minute it must have written multiple access errors to the history database and filled up the database.

My question is, can I stop these error messages being written to the history file? Would the 'Ignore Access Denied errors' option address this issue?

Best regards,

Tony

Hello Tony,

Stop the task, select the menu "tools -> explore task directory" (Windows Explorer opens)
Go to the subdirectory having the same name as the task
Delete all files with "history" in their name (1 or 2 files typically)
Unzip this empty history: www.watchdirectory.net/img/forum/history.zip

Sorry, there is no way to prevent some messages being written to the history.db
