Monitoring a folder on a PC not always on
Aug 23rd, 2016 at 5:03pm

I have a task that monitors a folder on a networked PC that is located in a laboratory. This PC may on occasion be switched off so, my task of course tries to access the folder a number of times then stops. Is there a strategy I could adopt so that a task would cope when a PC is switched off and start monitoring it again when it is switched on again. I suppose I could set the 'Wait' time between attempts to a long interval of (say) a day but wondered if there was a more elegant way of handling the above scenario?

many thanks,

Tony

Hello Tony,

Currently the best way to handle this is to install & run this task on that laboratory PC itself.

A future WD version will have an option to continue running in this kind of situation.
