Copy Files vs Sort Files to Multiple Folders
Nov 15th, 2016 at 5:47pm

Greetings!

When setting up a Sort Files to Multiple Folders task I noticed there is not a way to check for existing files like there is with the basic Copy Files task. Is there a way to accomplish this using the Sort Files to Multiple Folders? Or if this is not possible could you add this in to a future release? It would be very beneficial to check for existing files before moving / copying the file and have that same ability to append a timestamp or .OLD or something.

Thanks!

You are correct and we will look into this for a future release.
What you can do now as the target for "sort" uses {dynamic naming} is to use something like

C:\Target\{relativedir}\{filetitle}_{year}{month}{day}_{hour24}{min}{sec}.{exten
sion}
(see http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/dynamicname_functions.html )
so all copied files will have a timestamp as their suffix.
