Deleting old Images
Feb 27th, 2017 at 10:23am

Morning,

Just got this software to play around with for a customer. They're wanting to delete any JPG that gets to 6 months old. Slightly struggling setting this up.

Just wondering if anyone has done this?

Thanks Mike

Hello Mike,

Should be easy enough, here a few hints.

Use the "Delete Files" plugin: http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/plugins/wdopAutoDelete.html

On "Filter Events", http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/filter_events.html , create a filter:
Extension equals jpg

on "Monitoring Method", http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/wdnewconfigpage3.html , use "File Age", set it to 180 days, do not set the option to "remember triggered files".

If the monitored directory is on a local drive (same computer as where the task is running) you are all set, should work fine.

If the monitored directory is "on the network" and you run this task as a Windows Service make sure to read this blog: http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/04/watchdirectory-tasks-as-windows-service.h...

If you are still having trouble, email me a "debug backup" as described here: http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html

Could be there is already another filter present (only delete files matching *.autodelete), if so, remove that filer.
