Testing with a virtual drive letter
Oct 17th, 2017 at 8:01pm

I use my computer to test most of the tasks I create before I move them to a production server.

My production servers have an E: drive where I keep all the batch files that WatchDirectory executes.  My computer does not have an E: drive so I created one by using the SUBST command and pointing it to a folder named E on my C: drive.
Code:
subst E: C:\E

Problem is WatchDirectory does not see the E: drive when I browse to find it.  Every other application on my computer sees the E: drive

I also noticed one other thing.

If I put the SUBST command into a batch file to just list what virtual drive letters have been created it does not show anything when I run the batch file from WatchDirectory but displays everything just fine if I run the batch file using Windows Explorer.

Hello Verne,

WD runs at another privilige level, I think that causes it. You could try to set a registry key EnableLinkedConnections, that may help. See https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844140(v=ws.10).aspx

We already had that registry setting enabled.

Hello Verne,

You could try
Code:
net use e: "\\computerName\c$\e" /persistent:yes

instead of the SUBST command. Perhaps that works better.
