Title: An issue with "Groups" Post by Gert on May 8th, 2008 at 10:25am
Modified by Gert: We have just released version 4.5.3, this issue is NOT fixed, but we have disabled "group functionality" in this new release.
Hello all, We have identified an issue when you use the "Groups" feature of WatchDirectory ( http://www.watchdirectory.net/wdhelp/help/wdnewconfigpage7.html ). Problem Description In the WatchDirectory Control Center, you have several tasks running (TaskA, TaskB). You select TaskA and press the STOP button. TaskB stops instead. Other symptoms may include that if you edit TaskA, it overwrites the settings of TaskB. Cause The WatchDirectory Control Center gets confused about the selected task if you also use (or have used in the past) the "Groups" feature. Workaround You need to remove "all traces" of the Groups feature from WatchDirectory. Stop all your tasks In the WD Control Center select the menu option "Tools -> Explore Task Directory" (This opens explorer in the directory with your settings, normally "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\watchDirectory") Open the file common.ini with notepad Search for: Code (][groups-selected):
And remove the above lines. Note that in the example above 2 groups were defined (named g1 and g2), this will be different in your case. In the same directory, there are files with a .config extension. These files contain your settings for your tasks. Open these files with Notepad, and search for a line like
groups=g1
(where g1 is one of your group-names). If such a line exists, remove it from those files. Fix We are not quite sure when this problem was introduced, most likely it was version 4.5.0 as that version changed the way the Control Center works with tasks and settings. We are investigating this problem further. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, Gert |
