Copy File From OS/2
Sep 28th, 2005 at 4:06pm

Until yesterday (upgraded to 4.35), I had a copy batch file sucessfully polling every 3 seconds to copy Files from OS/2 directory to a directory on a windows 2003 server.

Since upgrading (and rebooting the server), no copying of files has occurred.  I have uninstalled and reverted back to 4.25 with the same problem.

I have switched debug on and noted that it only reports the last directory in the group of directories i'm watching, i.e. is it checking them all and only reporting one directory or only checking the last directory.

ie  my OS/2 Directory being checked for FileNew
(names changed to protect the innocent  Grin)

  C:\spool
  C:\spool\D1\
  C:\spool\D2\
  C:\spoolD3\
etc

I have deleted and recreated the jop several times - still not fixed.

Any Clues much appreciated

Am I correct:
4.25 was the version that worked
You installed the latest version - didn't work
you installed 4.25 - didn't work

That seems very odd, nothing has changed for the "polling" method (as far as I am aware), even stranger that the previous version also doesn't work anymore...

Did you uninstall the latest version before reinstalling 4.0.[b]25/b]? The installer may refuse to overwrite files with an older version.

I guess you are monitoring c:\spool (in your example) including sub-directories....
Can you please send me the history.db, located inside
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\watchDirectory\<yourtaskname>

(this db contains all data shown inside the task-history-viewer). Please make sure your task had debug enabled.

Hello Gert,

Thanks for your response.  Its now working again.  Did nothing with Watchdirectory - still on 4.25.

To try and solve the problem another way I wrote a VB.NET service and during the process of testing that it kept reporting that the allowed network allocations had been used, so could not connect.  I had shared the OS/2 directorys with unlimited user access with a full rights  so knew either the VB app was wrong or OS/2.

I then propogated access rights again on os/2  to my directories and recreated the the WatchDirectory job
Viola! - So still not sure where the fault lies.  Will try and upgrade again at a quieter time.

Thanks again

It has been years ago when I was programming (or using) on OS/2. I am not sure if OS/2 has the same kind of limitations Windows has for inbound connections...

Windows allows, depending on the version, a limited number of inbound connections (drive mappings for example). Perhaps OS/2 has something similar?
