The digital signature of this program is corrupt.
Oct 25th, 2006 at 4:27pm

G'day,

I'm running beta WatchDirectory Professional 4.1.  Had one of my tasks, running a batchfile, shut down unexpectedly with the error message in the event log and history view of: "The digital signature of this program is corrupt.".  Other tasks continued running fine.  Is this error message coming from WatchDirectory, and if so, what does it mean?  Or is it just being passed up from the Image Converter program that the batch file is running?  Thank you.

One other minor bug? report: when running the Beta version, it reports that a newer version of the program is available, though the actual "new" version available is the current final release, with a lower version number.  Perhaps the check needs to be "installed version number" < "latest on web version number" rather than "installed version number" <> "latest on web version number"?

Overall I love the program, works great for many tasks.

Thank you,
Thom

Hello Thom,

Can you please check in the install directory (C:\Program Files\watchDirectory) if the following programs have a digital signature:
wdrun.exe
wdpostman.exe
wdsupport.dll
If you right-click them, and choose properties, there should be a tab named "Digital Signatures", and it should show "GdP Software" as the signer. Is it always the same task shutting down with this message? I would expect that if one of the above files is missing its signature, all task would refuse to run.

I will do some more checking on this. What operating system are you running on?

About the "check for updates", you make a good point. The help-file version-history shows a warning about it, but I guess thats not good enough.

Hi Gert,

All 3 programs appear to be correctly signed, with Gdp Software as the signer.  So far it's only happened once to the best of my knowledge, on a task that has been running successfully for weeks.  I'm running Windows Server 2003.

Thanks for letting me know.

I will see if I can reproduce this problem - it may be hard to do if you say the task ran ok for weeks before it happened...

An update on this...
I have reproduced this problem now. It seems to only occur when you run several tasks and the control center at the same time, and only when you are "very unlucky" Wink
There will be an updated beta available on the forum this weekend.
