Error Code 5
Jun 4th, 2007 at 3:42pm

I am getting this error regardless of which directory I am instructing WatchDirectory to monitor:

DMS - Traversing directory \\192.168.1.8\shared\IT Group\Documentation produced this error: Error Code: 5 Description: Access is denied.

I am Domain administrator rights so access errors should not be occuring.  I have attached my .config file and the history.db

Hi,

I guess you are running these tasks as a Windows Service? By default WD Services are running as the user LocalSystem with no access to network drives. You need to change the user used for the service on the Windows Services applet (control panel). If your task is called "Hello", you will need to change the service settings for service "watchDirectory:Hello".

Hope that helps,

Gert

Getting this error after having this job work for over 5 years.  I am using a domain account with full rights to all servers being monitored and copied to.

Any suggestions?

Hello Keith,

Does it work when you run the task "as a normal program"? In that case please read http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/04/watchdirectory-tasks-as-windows-service.h...

If that is not the issue, please enable "Debug" for the task and run it until you get the error again. Then email me a backup. This is explained in detail here: http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html
