watch directory application is stopping auto
Oct 8th, 2019 at 1:57pm

we were running watch directory 4.8.8 application on windows 2008 R2 without any issue but Since past 2 months (after windows patch applying but patches are already rolled back) WD application is intermittently closing auto. we are starting it manually.

Can you please advise the steps for troubleshooting and resolving this issue.

we do see along with WD application , nginx web application is also closing. there is nothing reported in event viewer for that.

we are monitoring WD from Nagios XI.

Let me know if you need specific detail for troubleshooting.

Regards,
vijay

Hi,

Hard to tell what is happening. Can you follow the steps in this blog:
http://blog-en.gdpsoftware.com/2010/06/send-task-backup-to-support.html

So you enable "debug" and run the task until it stops. When it stops, before you start it again, right-click the task and select "Backup" from the popup menu. Please email me the backup to have a look.

I am also running WD in Windows Server 2008 R2, and have recently started to have problems.
Auto start of tasks (as a service) fail, and sometimes I am completely unable to start the WD Control Console.
In these cases, I cannot even start the service from the Windows Services screen.
I do not know how to start my tasks manually in this case.
Without WDCC running, I don't know how to troubleshoot this...

I hope someone can help, as this is an important monitoring application.
It has been working perfectly for some years, but recently stopped working after Windows Updates.

Ben
