We are an Australian Regional Newspaper Group of over 400 Staff in Victoria and New South Wales, comprising 8 remote sites. We have a requirement to move files around our WAN and being newspapers have time constraints on our production.
We were using network shares and manually sending files to other sites, a very time consuming process which sometimes affected our paper production.
Since the introduction of Watch Directory a couple of years ago, we have used this excellent software to perform most of the tasks we previously did manually.
Uploading via FTP to our main servers from remote locations, sorting of files to different departments based on file name, moving files through different aspects of the production cycle. These are some of the functions for which we rely on Watch Directory.
The GUI makes configuration of Watch Directory tasks simple, the reporting via Web pages allows me to get a snapshot of the various tasks as they are working.
I'm sure that Watch Directory can be used for other tasks in our environment, I only need to think about it.
The support given by Gert is great, fast feedback, help on configuration of Watch Directory and batch files. Nothing is too much trouble for him.
